Shallow of Coralline on Elba Island
Close to Capo di Fonza we find le Coralline, site in which two different types of diving are possible.
The first dive starts from the surface rocks along the east side and reaches a maximum depth of 35/40 meters; a cave and a wall full of red coral, white and yellow gorgonias (eunicella cavolini) make this dive fascinating and suggestive.
Going back to the top of the cave we find siphon up to 15 meters. Looking towards the blue we have often the opportunity to catch sight of dentex (detex dentex), barracuda (sphyraena sphyraena), schools of greater amberjack (seriola dumerili) and tuna.
The second dive, made on the shoal, is very interesting because there is the possibility to see a lot of fishes, just for the compliance of the seabed full of caves and dens. Grouper (epinephelus guaza), octopus (octopus vulgaris), moray eel (muraena helena)of large size are almost always on the bottom.
