Island of Elba


How to get to Elba Island:
Island of ElbaDuring the summer season car ferries leave from Piombino to Portoferraio almost hourly. There are also a couple of daily ferries for Porto Azzurro and Rio Marina. The shipping companies are (Toremar e Moby Lines).
The crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio takes one hour.

A hydrofoil service (no cars), which arrives only in Portoferraio and Cavo, takes 35 minutes.

  • By car:
    From the northern Italy (click for map): from Milano, take the A1 motorway, then take the A15 at Parma Ovest to then take the A12 Genova-Livorno exit at Rosignano. Continue on the S.S. Aurelia clearway to "Venturina/Isola d'Elba" (you will see the sign to your right). Continue on the main road until you reach Piombino Marittima/Portoferraio.

    From north-eastern Italy (click for map): take the A1 motorway Bologna-Firenze-Pisa-Livorno, exit at Rosignano and continue as above.

    Alternatively: take the S.G.C. (not a motorway but a very good road) Firenze-Pisa-Livorno, exit at Firenze Signa and follow the clearway to Collesalvetti. At Collesalvetti re-join the motorway and exit at Rosignano, then take the S.S. Aurelia clearway as above to Piombino.

    From southern Italy (click on map): Take the A12 Roma-Grosseto motorway, continue on the S.S. Aurelia clearway: exit at Venturina-Isola d'Elba then follow as above for Piombino.

  • By plane:
    During the summer Elba is connected by many flights through Italian and foreign companies from the following airports: Milan, Pisa, Florence, Zurich, Bern, Friedrichschafen, Münich. The airport is located in La Pila, approx. 2 km from our diving.

  • By train:
    The Piombino Marittima train station is 50 meters from the ferry departures (see www.trenitalia.it).
